Imagine walking into your local pharmacy, attempting to obtain medication, and being refused. Not because you have an invalid prescription or potentially dangerous interaction with another medication you take, but because of the pharmacist’s personal beliefs.
Unfortunately this has happened to women across the country seeking to fill contraceptive prescriptions or access non-prescription emergency contraception.
On Feb. 21, 2008, the National Women's Law Center, NARAL Pro-Choice Wyoming, and Family Planning Advocates of New York State sponsored a free webinar to help advocates work with their state’s board of pharmacy to ensure that women’s access to contraception is not obstructed by pharmacists' personal beliefs.
The webinar featured:
- Gretchen Borchelt, National Women’s Law Center
- Sharon Breitweiser, NARAL Pro-Choice Wyoming
- JoAnn Smith and Linda Simkin, Family Planning Advocates of New York State
