"[As women,] our individual experiences with the health care system may vary, but the message doesn't change: we've all got something at stake when it comes to health reform and we'll all benefit from a comprehensive solution to the health care crisis."

Share Your Story

We believe that advocacy should be grounded in the real experiences of women struggling to obtain the health care they need. By sharing our experiences in the health care system, we can learn from one another's struggles and help policy-makers and advocates alike to better recognize why health reform matters for women. Your story will help us make the case for progressive health reform!

Tell us about your experiences:

Are you underinsured? If you are a woman and have health coverage that does not cover your health needs or requires unaffordable out-of-pocket expenses, please share your story.

Are you uninsured? If you are a woman who is trying to obtain health coverage or private individual insurance or has trouble with medical debt, please share your story.

Have you recently lost your health coverage? If you have lost your health coverage due to a change in life circumstances (divorce, widowhood, career shift), please share your story.

Have you stuck it out in an adverse situation to retain your health insurance? If you have remained in a marriage or in an unfavorable job solely because you needed to keep your health coverage, please share your story.

Have you had problems getting health care because of your language, your culture, or where you live? If you have encountered language or cultural barriers in the health care system, or have had difficulty accessing health care because of where you live, please share your story.

The National Women's Law Center is hosting a monthly conference call series, "Reform Matters," and we want you to be involved.

The calls provide a collaborative forum for women's advocates to share their experiences with health reform proposals at the state and federal levels, learn from one another, and connect with national health policy experts. The calls are held at 1:00 p.m. Eastern on the second Thursday of each month.

Learn more about the series.
