Support Legislation to Help Girls Be More Physically Active!

Urge your Members of Congress to co-sponsor and support these bills.
Take Action
Dear Friend,

On February 2nd, we will be Rallying for Girls’ Sports on Capitol Hill as part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day! Even if you are not on the Hill with us, add your voice to the rally cry to ensure that girls and women have access to physical fitness opportunities and that parents and students can obtain important gender equity information about their schools’ sports programs.

Ask your Members of Congress to support the High School Athletics Accountability Act and the High School Sports Information Collection Act. These two bills would require high schools to report information, broken down by gender, on sports participation and expenditures.

Schools are already collecting this information but do not make it public. By making this data publicly available, schools, parents, and students will be able to evaluate their athletics programs to make sure that they are treating boys and girls equally.

Sincerely,

P.S. Concerned about Title IX issues in your school? Our guide, Check It Out, will walk you through a series of easy-to-answer questions that can help answer the larger question of whether the athletic program at your school treats both male and female students fairly.
